A brief history of Arabic calligraphy and how it changed throughout the course of history. The importance it holds in Islam and the script of the Qur’an. An introduction to different pens and demonstrating the correct method of holding the pen, the focus will be on some letters and each individual's name will be written on a flat canvass to take home.

Having memorised the Qur’an in 1996 he studied Arabic calligraphy under the Tutelage of Shaykh Rashid Muhsin in Bangladesh and gained permission to teach in 1998. In 2002 he received permission to teach Qiraa-ah Sab’ah (The various modes of reciting the Qur’an) from the Islamic University of Azaadville, South Africa.

From 2004 till now he has been teaching Qur’an Recitation and memorisation, Arabic Calligraphy and Vocal arts in various institutes whilst serving as a Mosque Imam. In 2016 he co-founded Al Alwaan Islamic Art.
